John MacFee
Bass Guitar, Keyboard, Backup Vocals &
Head Sound Wizard

John picked up the guitar at the age of ten
with the arrival of the Beatles.  John’s first band,
Myst, played the local school scene and many local Battle
of the Bands, eventually going on to win fourth place in the
state finals in 1970. During his college years, his playing
was limited to mostly college-type acoustic gigs. After
taking several years off for work, marriage(s), divorce(s),
and the usual life stuff that drags a person away from rock’
n’roll, he got back into the life around 1988 after some
spiritual support from Mark Farner of Grand Funk fame.

Over the next several years, John played guitar and
keyboards for several local bands. Eventually, he switched
over to bass around 1992 playing for several years with
the Jimo Claflin Band from Scituate. After leaving that
band, he worked on some projects with some former
bandmates, but nothing ever came to fruition. On a whim
one Saturday in Sept. 2004, he stopped in at Music
Unlimited in Kingston to post a notice to see if anyone was
looking for a “mature” bass player who still likes to rock
out. About two hours later, a call came in from Pete
Eldridge, the audition was set up for that Sunday
afternoon, and the rest, as they say, is history. If you ask
him about “Connected”, he’ll gladly tell you, “Best band I
ever played with!” At any “Connected” gig, look for the
gray-haired old fart with the tatooes and the Cheshire grin
holding on to his beloved Alembic bass. That’ll be John
having the best time of his life!

As for music…  If it ain’t fun, don’t do it
